About this Blog

The stories found here are from our Italy trip in the summer of 2011. We visited several cities, including Rome, Venice, Florence, Ravenna, Assisi, San Gimignano, and Siena.

The New Horizons Band from London, Ontario began organizing tours of European countries back in the summer of 2005, and we have continued these tours every two years since.

About the New Horizons Program

Established in January 1999, the UWO New Horizons Adult Band Program aims to provide instruction to adults wishing to learn (or re-learn) to play wind or percussion instruments. This increasingly popular program offers instruction on the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba and percussion.

The UWO New Horizons Adult Band Program is modeled after similar programs in the United States and is sponsored by Western's Don Wright Faculty of Music. Currently, there are more than fifty such bands operating in the United States and Canada

The University of Western Ontario was the first New Horizons Band in Canada, and remains one of the largest programs of its kind in North America.
